Smoothies for breakfast are one of the best things about the warmer weather coming our way. Cold weather calls for hot meals to start the day; porridge, poached eggs, cheese melts these are the things I need to start a cold wintry day. However, with the warmer weather, a fruity iced smoothie is by far the easiest and happiest way to start the day. I have been using a raw protein powder in my smoothies to stretch out the liquid breakfast a little further into the day, I like to sweeten with some honey and sprinkle in teaspoons of powdered spices for a little extra kick and spice. I tend to use milk alternatives such as coconut and almond milk but nothings beats the creaminess of a generous scoop of full cream natural yoghurt. There is nothing worse than a watery, thin, flavourless smoothie. I have a few smoothie recipes that I have been writing up which I am excited to test and share with you, and they involve green tea and matcha.
