Feeling hugely grateful about the few hours that I was able to spend at Tim Bauer's Annandale Studio along with some other emerging photographers from my Photography College. His authentic, heart-on-his-sleeve approach to photography left me feeling hugely inspired to work on doing more portrait photography. I am really interested in the lighting aspect, whilst the technical and theoretical side of things spins my mind at times, it all seems to fall into place when you are standing in front of your subject with the lighting set up. Small tweaks and adjustments to perfect the portrait seem to be a combination of technical and intuitive knowledge with what you know will work and how much of a proximity you need to give your subject to be able to capture something that is somewhat of an introverted moment.
Tim's genuine interest in people and wanting to "find out" is something that resonates with my personality and it was fantastic to see how he utilises that inclination to make beautiful portraits. Check out his work, he is by far one of Australia's best portrait photographers.
